The First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University
The First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University (referred to as GMU First Hospital) is a large-scale, Grade III Class A comprehensive hospital integrating medical care, education, research, health services, rehabilitation, and pre-hospital emergency care. It also serves as the affiliated hospital for the Guangzhou Institute of Respiratory Diseases, the Guangzhou Institute of Orthopedics, the Guangzhou Institute of Urology, and the Guangzhou Medical University Institute of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine. Additionally, it is one of the first 13 National Clinical Research Centers designated by the national government.
It has a total of 1,500 hospital beds and comprises 44 clinical departments and 18 medical technology departments. As a municipally-run medical institution in Guangdong Province, it boasts both a National Key Laboratory and a National Clinical Research Center for Medicine. The hospital is tasked with responding to public health emergencies and providing emergency medical assistance across Guangdong Province and Guangzhou City. Notably, it has made significant contributions to the nation and society—particularly during critical outbreaks such as SARS, avian influenza, and the COVID-19 pandemic—and has earned widespread acclaim both at home and abroad.
