China Academy of Medical Sciences Fuwai Hospital
The Fuwai Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CAMS & PUMC) is a national-level, Grade III Class A specialized cardiovascular hospital integrating medical care, education, research, and prevention. It is a designated specialist hospital for basic medical insurance and also one of the first "mentor-based" National Medical Centers nationwide.
In 1956, the predecessor of the hospital, the PLA Chest Hospital of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, was established in Heishanhu. In 1958, the hospital was transferred to local administration and relocated outside Fuchengmen Gate, coming under the umbrella of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, where it was renamed "Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences Hospital Outside Fuchengmen Gate." As of December 31, 2020, the hospital had 3,571 employees on staff, including 1,440 professionals holding mid- to senior-level titles. By July 2025, the hospital will occupy an area of approximately 55,000 square meters, with 41 patient wards and 1,403 available beds.
