Beijing Tongrentang Hospital
Beijing Tongrentang Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital was established on October 27, 2008, and is located at No. 46 Xibo Zhuangchang Street, Dongcheng District, Beijing. The hospital’s original site dates back to the eighth year of the Kangxi era of the Qing Dynasty (1669 AD), when Le Xianyang, a senior medical official at the Imperial Medical Institute of the Qing Court at the time, founded the "Tongrentang" pharmacy. This location once served as the Le family’s very first venture before they acquired the renowned Dazhalan Pharmacy—Tongrentang—and later became the hospital’s pharmaceutical production facility during Tongrentang’s early days of growth, earning it the title of the birthplace of Tongrentang’s storied history. In 2009, the hospital was designated as a specialized medical institution covered by Beijing’s basic medical insurance program, and in 2011, it was upgraded to a Grade-II Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital.
