Guangzhou Zhixin Middle School

Zhixin High School (English name: Zhixin High School) is a public full-time secondary school located in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province. It is under the jurisdiction of the Guangzhou Education Bureau and is designated as a Grade-One School in Guangdong Province and a National Model General High School in Guangdong Province. It is also among the first batch of national pilot schools for science education in primary and secondary schools and the third batch of schools with distinctive features in national defense education.

In 1921, Mr. Sun Yat-sen personally founded the private Zhixin School to commemorate Mr. Zhu Zhixin, a modern democratic revolutionary. In 1928, the school was renamed “Private Zhixin Girls’ Middle School.” In 1944, it was renamed “Guangdong Provincial Zhixin Girls’ Middle School.” In September 1950, the school was renamed “Guangdong Province Zhixin Girls’ Middle School.” In 1953, it was renamed “Guangzhou No. 1 Girls’ Middle School.” In 1957, it was renamed “Guangzhou Zhixin Girls’ Middle School.” In 1966, the school was renamed “Guangzhou May 7th Middle School” (and briefly known as “Guangzhou Red Girls’ Middle School”). In 1969, the school was renamed “Guangzhou No. 55 Middle School” and resumed admitting male students. In 1978, the school was renamed “Guangzhou Zhixin Middle School” and was designated as a key middle school in Guangzhou. In 1980, it was designated as a key middle school in Guangdong Province. In 1994, it was rated as a Grade-One School in Guangdong Province. In 2008, it was rated as a national-level demonstration ordinary high school in Guangdong Province. In 2012, Guangzhou No. 109 Middle School merged into Zhixin Middle School. In September 2017, the Shuiyin Road campus of Guangzhou Zhixin Middle School opened. In September 2021, the Tianhe campus of Guangzhou Zhixin Middle School opened.
