The First People's Hospital of Hangzhou

Founded in 1923, it is the largest municipally-owned comprehensive Grade-III Class-A hospital in the Hangzhou area, integrating medical care, education, research, prevention, and social healthcare. It was one of the first four hospitals in Zhejiang Province to successfully pass the Grade-III assessment and is now affiliated with the First People’s Hospital of Hangzhou, which serves as the medical college of West Lake University; it also hosts the Fourth Clinical College of Zhejiang University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and functions as the Hangzhou Digestive Disease Hospital. The hospital operates multiple integrated campuses—including Hubin, Chengdong, Chengbei, Wushan, Xiasha, and Tonglu—each managed as a unified entity. Moreover, it stands out as one of the province’s hospitals with the most complete range of medical disciplines and the strongest overall service capabilities. Currently, the hospital is responsible for establishing 18 quality control centers across specialties such as obstetrics, orthopedics, critical care medicine, emergency services, radiology, ultrasound, pathology, laboratory testing, pharmacy, and nursing in Hangzhou, while also serving as the supporting institution for 12 municipal-level specialized (disease) diagnosis and treatment centers.

A dedicated individual in the city firmly upholds the oath, "Health depends on us; lives are entrusted to us," and embraces the mission of "embracing the limitless potential of medicine while bravely scaling new heights, relentlessly pursuing excellence in service, and focusing on building a hospital that is both "learning-oriented" and "research-driven." Through continuous innovation and courageous breakthroughs, we aim to achieve sustainable, healthy growth—laying a solid foundation for the hospital to evolve into a first-class, comprehensive medical facility that aligns with international standards and serves as a provincial leader, reaching far beyond the local region.
