Shanghai Jiao Tong University, commonly known as "SJTU," is located in Shanghai. It is a key national university directly administered by the central government, under the supervision of the Ministry of Education, and jointly established with the Shanghai Municipal Government. As one of China's oldest institutions of higher learning, SJTU ranks among the nation's premier universities under the "Double First-Class," "Project 985," and "Project 211" initiatives.
